Encourage the child to "role-play" different scenarios using a toy phone or make-believe phone. They can pretend to call different family members, friends or even fictional characters, and engage in conversations with them. This will further enhance their understanding of different types of relationships and the role of communication in maintaining those connections. Additionally, you can introduce the child to the concept of writing letters or emails to communicate with people who are far away.
