My child Learned the algorithym to solve a 3x3 rubix cube. He has been practising and self teaching additional algorithyms to improve his speed at solving the cube. He has now also learned through watching youtube tutorials and a level of figuring it out himself to solve a 2 by 2 rubix cube and a 5 by 5 rubix cube. He also competed in a competition for solving the 3 by 3 and the 2 by 2 cubes, where he acted as a competitor and a judge, judging other competitors.
