One creative way to further develop the child's understanding of grocery shopping is to encourage role-playing. Set up a pretend grocery store at home with play food and a cash register. Let the child take turns being the shopper and the cashier, practicing counting and calculating the cost of items. This activity can also incorporate social skills and communication as they interact with their "customers" or "cashiers".
