Tips
To extend the learning, have the student keep a running list of new words discovered during play and look up definitions, parts of speech, and synonyms afterward. You could also turn scoring into a mini math challenge by having the student explain how each word total was calculated. For deeper language practice, invite the student to sort played words by prefixes, suffixes, or word families, then use a few of them in original sentences. As a creative extension, try a “best move” reflection: after each round, the student writes why a chosen word was strong and what another option might have scored.
