Tips: Build on Ella’s understanding by having her create a three-column verb chart for present progressive, past progressive, and future progressive forms. Invite her to illustrate one continuing action and write three captions for it, such as “The dinosaur is running,” “The dinosaur was running,” and “The dinosaur will be running.” During a short read-aloud, ask Ella to find progressive verbs in a paragraph and explain what time each verb describes. She could also write a brief journal entry about an event using at least two present progressive, two past progressive, and two future progressive verbs, then revise it for correct subject-verb agreement.
