Core Skills Analysis

English

Chloe worked with the letters Aa, Bb, and Cc, identified their sounds, and matched words or pictures by their first sounds. These activities supported letter recognition and phonological awareness by helping Chloe connect written letters with spoken sounds. Chloe also completed parts of lessons 3, 4, and 6 in the Good and Beautiful Preschool course book, extending the literacy practice included in those lessons.

Math

Chloe found and identified the current date on a calendar and named the current season while practicing the order of all four seasons. Chloe practiced telling time to the hour and half-hour and identifying parts of a clock, building early skills in time concepts and clock vocabulary. Watching a Numberblocks video about telling time provided another way to encounter the same math ideas.

Physical Education

Chloe played independently on a playground for 20 minutes, taking part in active outdoor play. Chloe also practiced identifying left and right, developing awareness of directional concepts that can be used when moving through space. The activity offered opportunities to combine movement with attention to body direction.

Tips

Tips Make a simple daily calendar routine with Chloe: mark the date, name the season, and arrange four season cards in order. Create a paper clock together and invite Chloe to set it to familiar hour and half-hour times, then play a movement game in which directions such as left and right guide a path around the room or playground. For literacy, gather a few objects beginning with A, B, or C and sort them by their first sound, then invite Chloe to draw one object and label it with its starting letter.
