Whilst out for a nature walk, Axel asked how long it takes for trees to grow, this led nicely into a discussion about trees and how important they are to us all. Axel learnt about the tree rings and how crucial they are to estimate how old the trees are and what the weather was like during each year of the tree’s life! He observed many different species of tree growing around us. Axel then wanted to know what the largest trees in the world are so we looked at images of the General Sherman Tree and the Hyperion in Redwood’s national park.
