English Language Arts

• The Fourth-grade child learned how to locate books in the library by using the Dewey Decimal System.
• They practiced reading comprehension skills by selecting a book of interest and reading it independently.
• The child improved their vocabulary by searching for new words in the books they read and using context clues to understand them.
• They developed their writing skills by writing a book review or summary of the book they read.

For continued development, encourage the child to explore different genres of books during library time. They can try reading a biography, a fantasy novel, or a historical fiction book. Encourage them to discuss their favorite books with their peers and recommend books to each other. Additionally, they can start a reading journal to keep track of the books they have read, write down their favorite quotes, or create their own book recommendations.
