Aiza has read a storybook called “Mulan” and worked on it using lessons on Oak National Academy website. She was exploring the main character of the story, talking and writing about the main heroine’s features of the character, where and when the story happened. Aiza also learnt about traditional tales and what their characteristics are. Aiza was answering questions based on the story of Mulan searching for key words in questions, scanning the text for key information and retrieving the information to answer the questions. Aiza was also giving her own opinion and sharing her thoughts and ideas about Mulan’s character, why she likes her and admires her, Mulan’s family and Mulan’s thoughts and actions. Aiza was talking and writing about the first impression she had when she started reading the book and the impression she got about Mulan after she finished reading the book. Aiza also learnt the difference between a soldier, a warrior and a hero. She learnt that not only men can be heroes or warriors, but also women, that women can also be skilled soldiers and have as much intelligence, bravery and determination as men and that women can also be leaders.
