Muhsin and his siblings are covering and learning about electricity, how it is generated and how it travels through circuits, and what safety precautions, and responsibilities we should take when dealing with electricity. They are becoming aware electricity can be dangerous if not handled properly. They learned we can’t ever touch electrical wires, outlets, or appliances with wet hands. Muhsin and his siblings learned how to properly plug in and unplug devices like electrical whisks by holding the plug, not the cord, and most importantly to turn off devices before unplugging them. We looked at and discussed the dangers of overloading outlets by using too many devices at once and sticking sticks or fingers into electrical outlets. We also learned to report any potential hazard to an adult, for example, frayed wires and always to ask for help from an adult when dealing with electricity. They have watched online videos, sci show kids, quizzes, and hands-on experiences while baking cake using the electric whisk and in case of fire how to make a call to the London fire brigade. Muhsin learned about climate change and the impact it has on our environment. We covered earthquakes and floods, since he watched Newsround he heard about earthquakes in Morocco and flooding in Libya. Muhsin was very interested in understanding the reasons why these disasters happened, we looked at what causes earthquakes and floods, looking at the disasters that happened in Libya and Morocco the loss of life, injury and other health impacts, property damage, loss of livelihoods, and services, social and economic disruption, or environmental damages. He has also looked at how we can help and make changes to prevent climate change by switching off lights, walking or using public transport instead of using the car, recycling, and reducing food waste. Muhsin learned how to make a mini earthquake with different materials around the house like books and tower blocks where he shares his ideas with his siblings. His creativity is amazing. Since we go out to the park Muhsin explores the grass and the logs around the park where he comes across a lot of minibeasts, he started getting passionate about learning about these little creatures in their natural habitats he observes them every day, we went to the library and got a book about minibeasts called mad about minibeasts and out and about minibeast explorers to learn about different types of insects and bugs. He learned how to identify insects in our local park pond and river. We studied dragonflies, how beautiful, wonderful aerobatic skills they have, and how fascinating and beneficial they are to humans. As a predator of mosquitoes and as a prey to birds and fish. We looked at the life cycle of dragonflies from egg, larvae, and adult habitat and Anatomy by looking at different videos on YouTube National Geographic short film The Secret World of Dragonflies.
