Activity: "Park"
Math
- The child learned to count and identify numbers by counting the number of swings, slides, or other play equipment in the park.
- The child practiced addition and subtraction by counting how many children were playing on the playground and figuring out how many more or fewer children were needed to reach a certain number.
- The child learned about shapes and spatial awareness by identifying shapes in the playground equipment, such as circles in the merry-go-round or squares in the sandbox.
- The child explored measurement concepts by comparing the height or length of different play structures, such as the height of the slide or the length of the monkey bars.
Encourage further development by incorporating math into future park visits. Have the child estimate the number of steps it takes to reach a particular area of the park, or measure the distance between different objects using their own steps as a unit of measurement.
