A friend gave Riley this chrysalis, and a book about the monarch butterfly. When the chrysalis became darker we knew it would soon be ready to hatch so we moved it outside to a protected undercover area. We set up a device to capture a time lapse video of the monarch butterfly hatching. We were lucky enough to see it fly away in person. It took 7 days for the chrysalis to hatch.
