Group visit with other children to walsall art gallery where we learned about portraits, the difference between 2d and 3d art, how to represent a portrait bust. Then made our our creations from clay and presented them to the group.

Art

• The student learned about the concept of portraits and how they are represented in art, gaining an understanding of the different styles and techniques used.
• They grasped the difference between 2D and 3D art while working with clay, understanding how to manipulate the materials to create depth and form.
• The activity allowed the student to learn how to represent a portrait bust, understanding the process of sculpting and shaping the clay to create a three-dimensional representation of a person's head and shoulders.
• They also developed their presentation skills by presenting their clay creations to the group, fostering confidence and communication abilities.

Encourage the student to continue their development by exploring different mediums for creating portraits, such as painting, sketching, or digital art. They can also research different artists and their approaches to portraiture for inspiration, and continue practicing sculpting with clay to further develop their skills in 3D representation.
