What is a Number Sentence?
A number sentence is a way to show a math problem using numbers and symbols, like + (plus) and - (minus). It tells us how to put numbers together or take them apart!
Types of Number Sentences
There are two main types of number sentences:
- Addition Number Sentences: These show when we want to put numbers together. For example, 2 + 3 = 5 means if you have 2 apples and get 3 more, you will have 5 apples in total.
- Subtraction Number Sentences: These show when we want to take numbers away. For example, 5 - 2 = 3 means if you have 5 cookies and you eat 2, you will have 3 cookies left.
