Making Pancakes: A Fun Activity for Kids!

Today, we are going to learn how to make pancakes! This is a yummy breakfast that you can help make. Remember, cooking is always more fun with an adult. Let's get started!

What You Need:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter or oil
  • Cooking spray or extra butter for the pan

Steps to Make Pancakes:

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a big bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together. Stir them gently using a spoon.
  2. Mix the Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, pour the milk and crack the egg. Add the melted butter. Stir everything together until it’s nice and smooth.
  3. Combine Them: Now, pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Use your spoon to mix them together. It's okay if there are a few lumps; don’t mix too much!
  4. Heat the Pan: Ask an adult to help you heat a non-stick pan on the stove over medium heat. They might spray the pan with cooking spray or add a little butter so the pancakes don’t stick.
  5. Pour the Batter: When the pan is hot, use a ladle or a cup to pour some batter into the pan. You can make small or big pancakes—it's your choice!
  6. Watch for Bubbles: After a minute or so, you will see little bubbles forming on top of the pancake. When you see bubbles, it’s time to flip it over!
  7. Flip the Pancake: Ask your adult helper to flip the pancake carefully. Cook it for another minute until it’s golden brown.
  8. Repeat: Keep making pancakes until all the batter is used up!
  9. Time to Enjoy: Once the pancakes are ready, put them on a plate. You can add delicious toppings like syrup, fruits, or whipped cream!

Now you know how to make yummy pancakes! Enjoy your breakfast, and don’t forget to tell everyone that you helped make them!
