What is a Sequence?
A sequence is a list of numbers or things that follow a specific order. For example, if we have a sequence of numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4, we can see that it goes up by 1 each time.
How to Find the Missing Step
Sometimes, part of a sequence is missing, and we need to find out what it is. To do this, we can follow these simple steps:
- Look at the first numbers: Check the numbers that are there to see if they follow a pattern.
- Identify the pattern: Ask yourself how the numbers change. Do they go up, down, or stay the same? Are they adding or subtracting a specific number?
- Find out the missing number: Use the pattern you found to fill in the blank. For example, if the sequence is 2, 4, __, 8, you see that each number goes up by 2, so the missing number is 6.
Practice Makes Perfect!
Let’s practice! Here’s a sequence: 5, 10, __, 20. What’s the missing number? If you look closely, you can see that the numbers are increasing by 5. So, the missing number is 15!
Keep practicing more sequences, and you’ll be great at finding missing steps!
