Where Does Rain Come From?

Hi there! Do you know that rain is really important? It gives water to plants, animals, and even us! But where does rain come from? Let’s find out!

The Water Cycle

Rain is a part of something called the water cycle. This is how it works:

  1. Sunshine: The sun shines on rivers, lakes, and oceans. When the sun shines, it warms up the water.
  2. Evaporation: When the water gets warm, it turns into a gas called water vapor. This is like when you see steam coming from hot soup!
  3. Going up: The water vapor goes up into the sky. As it goes higher, it cools down.
  4. Condensation: When the water vapor cools, it turns back into tiny water droplets. These droplets gather together to make clouds.
  5. Rain: When the clouds get too heavy with water droplets, they can’t hold them anymore. So, the water falls down as rain!

Why is Rain Important?

Rain helps plants grow and gives us water to drink. Without rain, everything would be dry!

Next time you see rain, remember, it’s part of the water cycle that helps our Earth!
