Protecting Your Eyes from the Sun
Hey there! It’s really important to take care of our eyes, especially when we play outside in the sun. Here are some easy steps you can follow to keep your eyes safe:
1. Wear Sunglasses
Just like you wear a hat to keep your face cool, wearing sunglasses helps keep your eyes safe! When you pick sunglasses, choose a pair that blocks out 100% of the sun's harmful rays. Look for ones that say they protect against UV (ultraviolet) rays!
2. Choose a Hat
A wide-brimmed hat (one that is at least 3 inches all around) can help protect your eyes from sunlight too. It can shade your face and make it easier to see when you're outside!
3. Stay in the Shade
Whenever you can, try to stay in shaded areas, especially when the sun is really bright. Play under trees, umbrellas, or any place that gives you some shade!
4. Avoid Looking Directly at the Sun
Never look directly at the sun, even during the day! It can hurt your eyes. If you want to see a solar eclipse or something bright, use special glasses made just for that.
5. Take Breaks Inside
If you’re playing outside, make sure to take breaks and go inside to rest your eyes. This helps them cool down and relax from the sun's rays.
6. Talk to a Grown-Up
If you're not sure what to wear or do to protect your eyes, ask a parent, teacher, or another grown-up. They can help you find the best ways to stay safe!
By following these steps, you can help keep your eyes safe and enjoy all the fun that comes with playing outside in the sun!
