What is the Diaphragm?
The diaphragm is a special muscle that looks like a big dome. It's found at the bottom of your chest, right above your tummy.
How Does It Help Us Breathe?
When you want to take a big breath, what do you do? You breathe in! When you breathe in, the diaphragm moves down, kind of like a balloon blowing up. This makes a bigger space in your chest for your lungs, which are like big balloons that fill with air.
What Happens When We Breathe Out?
After you have taken a breath, when you want to let the air out, the diaphragm goes back up. This helps push the air out of your lungs, like letting the air out of a balloon.
Let's Remember!
So, the diaphragm is super important because it helps us breathe! It moves down to let air in and goes back up to let air out!
