The Life Cycle of a Chick
Hi there! Today, we're going to learn about how a hen makes an egg and how a little chick comes out of it later. It's very exciting!
Step 1: The Hen Lays an Egg
First, there is a lovely hen (a bird!). When the hen is ready, she lays an egg. This egg is just like a round little house that holds baby chicks inside!
Step 2: The Egg is Waiting
After the hen lays the egg, she takes care of it. She keeps it warm by sitting on it. We call this 'incubation.' The egg needs to stay warm for a little while before anything happens.
Step 3: The Chick Hatches
After a few weeks, something amazing happens! Inside the egg, a little chick begins to grow. When the chick is ready, it pecks its way out of the egg! This is called 'hatching.'
Step 4: Welcome the Chick!
When the chick comes out, it is wet and fluffy! The hen helps the chick dry off and keeps it safe. Now the chick can start to explore the world!
And that’s how a hen lays an egg and a chick hatches from it! Isn’t nature wonderful?
