What is the Simple Present Tense?

The simple present tense is a verb tense used to describe actions that happen regularly or facts that are always true. It is one of the most common tenses in English.

How to Form Affirmative Sentences in the Simple Present

When we make affirmative sentences in the simple present, we follow this pattern:

  • For most verbs: Use the base form of the verb.
  • For he, she, or it: Add 's' or 'es' to the base form of the verb.

Examples:

  • I play soccer on Saturdays.
  • You read books every night.
  • He plays the guitar.
  • She watches TV after school.
  • It rains a lot in spring.

Important Notes:

- We use the simple present tense for habits, routines, and things that are always true, like:

  • My brother likes video games.
  • Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.

- Remember, when you are talking about he, she, or it, always add 's' or 'es' to the verb. For example:

  • She goes to school every day.
  • He watches the news.

Practice Makes Perfect!

Try writing your own sentences in the simple present tense. Think about your daily routine or things you like!
