Who Was John the Baptist?

John the Baptist was a special person who lived a long time ago, about 2000 years ago, in a place called Judea, which is now part of Israel. He is known for being the person who prepared the way for Jesus Christ, who is very important in Christianity.

What Did He Do?

John had a big job! He went around telling people to get ready for someone very important who was coming—Jesus. He taught people about being kind, doing good things, and turning away from bad behavior. He also baptized people in the Jordan River, which means he dipped them in the water as a sign that they wanted to change and follow God's way.
