Counting is like putting toys in a line!
Imagine you have some colorful blocks, and you want to know how many you have. Start by lining them up one by one. Each time you put a block in the line, say a number - 'One, two, three...' The last number you say tells you how many blocks you have!
For example, if you have 5 toy cars, line them up and count 'One, two, three, four, five!' You now know you have 5 toy cars.
Counting helps us figure out 'how many' of something we have. It's fun and helps us keep track of things we have or want to do.
Remember, practice makes perfect, and counting is like a game where you win by getting the right number at the end!
