What Are Ears?
Your ears are special parts of your body that help you hear all the wonderful sounds around you, like music, people's voices, and birds chirping.
How Do Ears Work?
When a sound happens, it sends tiny vibrations (like little waves) through the air. Your outer ear, the part you can see, catches these sound waves and sends them inside to your eardrum. The eardrum shakes when the sound waves hit it, and this shaking moves tiny bones inside your ear.
These tiny bones help send the sound to your inner ear, where special cells turn the sound into signals. Then, your brain understands what the sound is. That is how you know if someone is talking to you or if a dog is barking!
Why Are Ears Important?
- Hearing: Ears let you hear voices, music, and fun noises.
- Balance: Inside your ears, there are tiny parts that help you keep your balance so you don't fall when you run or play.
How to Take Care of Your Ears
It’s important to keep your ears clean and safe. Don’t put anything inside them, like cotton swabs, because it can hurt your ear. If you have pain or don’t hear well, tell a grown-up so they can help.
Isn't it amazing how your ears help you every day? Now you know why they're so special!
