Welcome to Central Australia!

Central Australia is a very interesting place right in the middle of the country. It is mostly a hot and dry desert. That means it doesn’t get much rain and it gets very warm during the day. The ground is sandy and there aren’t many trees.

What happens when you go closer to the sea?

Near the coast, or the sea, the weather changes! It becomes cooler and greener. This means there are more plants and it is a nicer place for animals to live because it’s not so hot and dry.

Special Animals that Live Only Here

Because Central Australia is so different from other places, it has many amazingly unique animals that are found only there. Some animals have adapted to live in the hot desert, like certain types of lizards, kangaroos, and birds. They know how to survive with little water and lots of heat.

So, Central Australia is a special place with a very dry desert in the middle and beautiful green places near the sea, and lots of wonderful animals that live there!
