What is a Fact?

A fact is a piece of information that is true and can be proven. It describes something that really happened or something that is always true, no matter what.

Examples of Facts:

  • The sun rises in the east.
  • Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
  • There are 24 hours in a day.

Facts are different from opinions because opinions are what someone thinks or feels and might be different from person to person. Facts can be checked and proven to be true by evidence or scientific methods.

So, whenever you hear something and wonder if it is true, you can check if it is a fact by asking questions, finding evidence, or looking it up in trusted sources.
