What is a Swamp?

A swamp is a special kind of wet place where the ground is very soft and muddy. Imagine a big, wet garden that is sometimes filled with water. In swamps, you can see a lot of green things like duckweed and mosses floating on the water.

Duckweed is tiny green plants that float on the water's surface, kind of like little green pillows. Mosses are soft, green plants that can grow on the wet ground or on things sticking out of the water.

Sometimes in a swamp, there are small hills or mounds that rise above the muddy water. These mounds are bits of dry land where animals and plants can live safely without getting wet all the time.

So, a swamp is a big, wet place covered with green plants and soft mud, with some little dry spots here and there. It's home to special animals and plants that love wet places!
