Hi there! Let's learn about how plants and animals live in the savannah, a special place on Earth.

The savannah is a big grassy area with some trees. It has two main parts of the year:

  • Hot and dry season: For about half the year, the weather is very hot, and there isn’t much water.
  • Rainy season: For the other half, it rains a lot, and there is plenty of water.

Plants and animals need two important things to live: water and sunlight.

During the rainy season, water is everywhere! Plants grow big and tall because they can drink lots of water and use sunlight to make food. Animals also find water to drink and plenty of plants to eat.

But when the hot and dry season comes, water is hard to find. Plants may stop growing and some animals have to travel far to find water. Some animals stay cool by hiding under trees or in burrows.

So, even though the savannah has both water and sunlight, plants and animals need to be very smart to live there because the rains come only half the year.

Isn't it amazing how nature works together to help plants and animals survive in places like the savannah?
