The savannah is a large grassland area that is very sunny and bright almost all year. It's a place where tall grasses grow, and some trees live too. But one important thing about the savannah is that it only rains during half of the year, and the other half is very dry.

Because of this, plants and animals have to be very clever to live there! For example, some plants have long roots that go deep into the ground to find water, so they don’t dry out during the dry months. Some animals, like elephants and giraffes, know how to find waterholes or eat leaves that still have moisture.

Other animals might rest or sleep during the hottest and driest parts of the year to save energy, and they come out when it rains and there is more food to eat. This way, even though the savannah can be hot and dry, plants and animals find smart ways to survive and grow.
