What is the Tundra?
The tundra is a very cold and chilly place. Sometimes it feels like freezing cold because the temperature stays low for most of the year.
Tundra Summers Are Short
In the tundra, summer is very short. This means it doesn't stay warm for a long time. When summer comes, the snow melts a little, and some plants grow quickly during this short time.
Plants in the Tundra
There are different kinds of plants in the tundra. North American tundra has more kinds of plants compared to the Eurasian tundra. This means you can find more variety of plants in the North American tundra.
Remember, even though the tundra is cold and tough for plants to grow, some special plants have learned how to live there!
