What is Egoism Ethical Theory?

Egoism is a way of thinking about right and wrong where a person focuses on what is best for themselves. It means that when someone makes a decision, they choose what helps them the most, rather than what might help others.

Example of Egoism in the Workplace

Imagine you work in a company with other people. You find out about a project that will give a big bonus to whoever finishes it first. If you decide to work extra hard only because you want the bonus for yourself, that is egoism. You are doing what's best for you, even if other people might also want the bonus or need help.

So, egoism means thinking about your own needs and benefits first when making choices.
