Hi there! Let me tell you about a really cool animal called an echidna.

Echidnas have special spiky backs, kind of like tiny spikes or thorns. When they want to stay safe, they dig into the ground so almost all of their body is hidden under the dirt. Only their spiky back sticks out above the ground.

The spikes protect the echidna from dangers like fires and animals that want to eat them. If there’s a fire, the dirt and the spikes help stop the heat from hurting them. And if an animal tries to grab them, the sharp spikes make it very hard for the animal to bite or catch them.

So, echidnas are very smart! They use their digging skills and their spiky backs to hide and stay safe in the wild.
