Hi there! Let's talk about how pearls are made inside an oyster. Imagine you have a tiny grain of sand that gets inside an oyster's shell. The oyster doesn't like this tiny sand because it feels itchy, just like when something gets into your shoe!

So, to protect itself, the oyster covers the sand with many smooth and shiny layers, kind of like putting on many coats of paint. These layers are called nacre. Over time, these layers build up and up until the sand is completely covered, turning into a big, round, and shiny pearl.

So, a pearl is really just a tiny grain of sand wrapped in lots of beautiful layers made by the oyster!
