What Are Bees?
Bees are little flying insects that live outside in nature. They collect pollen and nectar from flowers. Bees have fuzzy bodies and there are many kinds of bees, but the one you might know best is called the honeybee.
Why Are Bees Important?
Bees help flowers grow! When bees fly from one flower to another, they carry pollen, which helps flowers make seeds and fruits. This is called pollination. Without bees, many plants and fruits like apples, strawberries, and pumpkins would not grow well.
How Do Bees Make Honey?
Bees collect nectar, which is a sweet juice from flowers. They bring nectar back to their home called a hive. Inside the hive, bees turn nectar into honey by adding special chemicals and drying it out. Honey is food for bees, but people also enjoy eating it!
