Learn where snakes hatch from in this easy-to-understand explanation designed for 13-year-old students. Discover the basics about snake eggs and their hatching process.
Snakes hatch from eggs. Female snakes lay eggs in safe, warm places, such as under leaves, in soil, or hidden in logs. The eggs stay there until the baby snakes, called hatchlings, are ready to come out. Some snakes, like boas and pythons, might keep their eggs inside their bodies until the babies hatch, which means the babies are born alive instead of hatching from eggs outside. But most snakes lay eggs, and the baby snakes hatch from these eggs.
