Hi there! Let's talk about deserts and why they are super hot during the day and really cold at night.
During the day, the sun shines very bright and warms up everything in the desert, especially the sand. The sand gets very hot because it soaks up all the sun's heat, kind of like when you sit outside and feel warm from the sun.
But when the sun goes down and the night comes, there is no more sunlight to keep the sand warm. So, the heat that was in the sand quickly goes away into the air. Because there is not much water or plants to hold onto the heat in the desert, the temperature drops fast and it gets really cold at night.
So, deserts change from hot, sandy places in the daytime to chilly, cool places at night because of how the sun heats the sand and how fast the heat leaves when the sun is gone.
