Hi there! Let's learn about deserts together.
What is a desert? A desert is a place where it is very dry. That means it doesn’t rain very much. Because of this, deserts are often sandy or rocky and have lots of wind.
Why is rain important in deserts? Since rain is very rare in deserts, when it does rain, it is very important for the plants, animals, and people that live there. The rainwater helps plants grow and gives animals something to drink.
How do plants save water in deserts? Desert plants have special ways to keep and save water because there isn’t much to go around. Some plants have thick leaves or stems that store water, like cactuses. Some have small or no leaves to stop water from drying out. Others have deep roots to find water underground.
So, even though deserts are dry and hot, plants and animals have amazing ways to live there!
