What is Kayaking?

Kayaking is a fun activity where you sit in a small boat called a kayak and use a paddle to move through the water. Kayaks are lightweight and easy to steer!

Using Paddles

A paddle is a long stick with a flat blade at each end. You hold the paddle with both hands and dip the blade into the water on one side to push yourself forward. Then you do the same on the other side, like a back-and-forth motion. This helps the kayak move smoothly!

Working as a Team

Sometimes, two people paddle together in one kayak. It’s important to work as a team so the kayak moves in the right direction. One person paddles on the left, and the other paddles on the right, taking turns and listening to each other. When everyone paddles together, the kayak goes faster and you have more fun!

Remember

  • Always wear a life jacket to be safe.
  • Listen to your teacher or adult when kayaking.
  • Have fun exploring the water with your friends by working as a team!
