In a lion family, which is called a pride, there are boy lions and girl lions. The girl lions are called lionesses. Lionesses do most of the hunting because they are very good at it! They work together like a team to catch food.

Boy lions, which have big manes (the fluffy hair around their heads), are strong and help protect the family from danger. While the lionesses go hunting, the boy lions keep the pride safe and look after the babies.

So, the lionesses hunt because they are fast and smart hunters, and the boy lions protect and take care of the family. Everyone in the lion family has an important job!
