Hi there! Have you ever noticed that penguins are black on their backs and white on their tummies? That's a very smart way they hide from other animals!
Imagine a penguin swimming in the ocean. If a big bird in the sky looks down, the penguin's black back blends in with the dark water, so the bird can't see it easily.
And if a hungry fish or seal looks up from under the water, the penguin’s white belly mixes with the bright, light-filled water at the surface, making it hard to see too!
This special coloring is called camouflage. It helps penguins stay safe by hiding them from both their enemies above and below the water.
Isn’t nature amazing?
