Geese are special birds that can swim very well, just like ducks! But you might wonder, if they swim in water, why don’t they get all wet? That’s because geese have a special kind of oil (a type of fat) on their feathers.

The geese use their beaks to spread this oil all over their feathers. This oil makes their feathers waterproof, so water can’t soak in. This helps keep the geese warm and dry even when they are swimming in cold water.

So, the fat (oil) on their feathers acts like a raincoat, keeping the water out and making sure they don’t get wet!
