Did you know that bees have their own special way of talking to each other? When a bee finds lots of good flowers with yummy nectar, it wants to tell its friends where to find them. But bees can't talk like we do, so they do a "wiggle dance" instead!
This dance looks like the bee is wiggling its body in a little circle or figure-eight shape. By doing this dance, the bee tells the other bees two important things:
- Direction: The way the bee wiggles shows the bees which way to fly to find the flowers.
- Distance: How long the dance takes tells the bees how far away the flowers are.
So, thanks to the waggle dance, the other bees know just where to go to gather nectar and pollen to bring back to their home, called a hive. Isn't that a clever way for bees to share secrets about food?
