Hi there! Have you ever looked in a mirror and seen yourself? You know that it's you looking back at you, right?

Well, some very smart animals like ravens can also recognize themselves in mirrors! A raven is a type of bird with shiny black feathers. When they see their reflection in a mirror, they understand that the bird in the mirror is actually themselves, not just another bird.

This is really special because not all animals know it's themselves in the mirror. It shows that ravens are very clever and can think about who they are.

Scientists sometimes put marks on the ravens' bodies that they can't see without a mirror. When ravens look in the mirror and try to touch or look at the mark on their own body, it tells us they know the reflection is them!

So, just like you know you are you when you look in the mirror, ravens know that the bird in the mirror is actually them. Isn't that amazing?
