Learn why flamingos have pink feathers because of the special food they eat, explained simply for young children.
Hi there! Do you know why flamingos are pink? It's because of the food they eat! Flamingos like to eat tiny shrimp called brine shrimp. These little shrimp are special because they have a color that can make flamingos' feathers turn pink.
When flamingos eat lots of brine shrimp, the pink color from the shrimp goes into their bodies and makes their feathers pink too. If they didn’t eat these shrimp, their feathers would be more gray or white.
Isn't it cool that what animals eat can change their color?
