What is Weather?

Weather is what the air and sky are like outside at a particular time. It tells us if it's sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, hot, or cold. Weather can change from day to day or even hour to hour.

Why Does Weather Happen?

Weather happens because of the Sun's energy. The Sun heats different parts of the Earth differently - some places get hot, others stay cooler. Warm air rises and cool air sinks. This movement causes the wind. Water from the oceans, lakes, and rivers evaporates into the air, forming clouds. When these clouds get heavy, it rains or snows.

Types of Weather

  • Sunny: The sky is clear, and the Sun shines brightly. It usually means warm weather.
  • Cloudy: The sky is covered with clouds, and it might feel cooler.
  • Rainy: Water falls from the clouds as rain, making the ground wet.
  • Snowy: When it is very cold, water falls as snow instead of rain.
  • Windy: You can feel the air moving strongly around you.

Why Do We Care About Weather?

Knowing the weather helps us decide what to wear, plan activities, and stay safe. For example, if it's going to rain, you might want to wear a raincoat or take an umbrella.

Remember, weather is always changing because of the Sun and how it heats the Earth!
