Hello! Did you know that squirrels are very clever little animals? They like to get food and keep it safe so they can eat it later, especially when it's hard to find food in winter.
One fun thing squirrels do is hang mushrooms on branches. They do this to let the mushrooms dry out. Dry mushrooms last longer and squirrels can eat them later when fresh food is not around.
Squirrels also collect nuts and acorns. Since these are yummy and good for them, they hide them in the ground or inside tree holes to save them for a rainy day—or in this case, a cold winter day!
So, hanging mushrooms and hiding nuts are like squirrels storing their favorite snacks so they don’t go hungry. Isn’t that smart?
