A sentence is a group of words that tell us a complete idea. It usually starts with a capital letter and ends with a period (.), a question mark (?) or an exclamation point (!).

For example:

  • The cat runs.
  • Do you like ice cream?
  • Wow! That is fun.

Every sentence has two important parts:

  • Subject: Who or what the sentence is about. (Like 'The cat')
  • Predicate: What the subject does or is. (Like 'runs')

So, when you put words together to tell someone something, you make a sentence!
