Let's explore the Earth together!

The biggest water bodies on Earth are called oceans. These are huge areas filled with saltwater, covering most of our planet.

When you look at a picture of the Earth, like the one you mentioned, you will see different colors. Often, blue represents water, but you might also see brown or green. The brown color shows the land.

Land covers a bit more than one-fourth of the Earth's surface. A big area of land is called a landmass. Imagine it like a giant island!

When this landmass is very large and continuous (meaning it stretches without breaks), it is called a continent. Examples of continents are Africa, Asia, and North America.

So, in simple words:

  • Oceans = Huge water bodies.
  • Landmass = Large pieces of land.
  • Continent = Very large, continuous landmasses.

This helps us understand the Earth better and how it is made up of both water and land!
