Hi there! Let's learn about some special birds and what makes them different from each other.

Emus and Kiwis: These birds are called flightless birds. That means they can't fly. But why not? It's because their bodies are made differently from birds that can fly. Emus are very big and strong, but their wings are small and not strong enough to carry them into the air. Kiwis are smaller but their wings are tiny and hidden under their feathers, so they can’t fly either.

Even though they can’t fly, emus and kiwis are great at moving on the ground. Emus can run very fast, and kiwis are good at hiding in forest floors.

Birds-of-paradise and Parrots: These birds are famous for their bright and beautiful feathers. Their colorful feathers help them attract friends or mates and sometimes help them hide among flowers and leaves.

Birds-of-paradise live in forests where they use their amazing feathers and dances to impress others. Parrots are smart birds that use their bright colors to communicate and blend in with the trees.

So, in short:

  • Emus and kiwis can’t fly because their bodies and wings aren’t built for flying.
  • Birds-of-paradise and parrots have bright feathers to show off and stay safe.

Isn’t it cool how different birds are? Some run on the ground, and some fly around showing their beautiful colors!
