How Are Storms Created?

Hi Mateo! Let’s talk about how storms happen!

1. Sunshine Warms the Earth: First, the sun shines down and warms up the air and the ground. When the ground heats up, it warms the air above it too.

2. Warm Air Rises: When the air gets warm, it starts to move up into the sky. Think of it like hot air balloons that float up in the sky!

3. Cool Air Comes Down: As the warm air rises, it leaves space for cooler air to come in from the sides and move down. This moving air is what helps make wind!

4. Clouds Form: When the warm air goes high up, it starts to cool down. As it cools, it can’t hold all its water, so tiny water drops come together to make clouds.

5. Storms Start: Sometimes, the clouds get too heavy with all that water. When they can’t hold it anymore, it falls down as rain. If it gets really windy and the clouds are very dark, it can turn into a storm! Sometimes storms even have thunder and lightning!

So, storms are like nature’s way of changing the weather! Isn’t that cool?
